crow hill
brooklyn, ny
Taking the original name for the neighborhood, this restaurant was designed to be an extension of the ‘familiar but exceptional’ philosophy of the menu, layering modern design and detailing over the style inherent to the century-old building even as that meant recreating the original style in the former bodega’s dilapidated space.
Design elements to include glossy planes floating below a period stamped-tin ceiling; graphic porcelain floor tiles to play off bare brick walls; a new frameless storefront under the existing bodega awning; oversized art and open stock shelving.
Crow Hill sought to be the ensconced local joint by the time the gentrification of Crown Heights reached Rogers Avenue. Unbuilt due to lease issues.
